My oil paintings use a layered approach to achieve a unique, heavy impasto texture. I use a palette knife to place bold strokes, thick with paint, leaving hard edges that reflect light where they lift off the panel. By letting the bottom layer show through between these large strokes, I achieve a greater range of color, narrative and visual interest.
